Looking for fresh Indian street food in Malmö? Masala & More at Baltzarsgatan 12, a few minutes' walk from Malmö Central Station, has a dedicated Indian street food menu of 13 dishes, every one made to order when you ask for it. Nothing sits under a heat lamp: puris are filled at the pass, chutneys are made in-house, and the tikkis are fried when your ticket comes in.

What is Indian street food?

Street food, or chaat, is the snack food of Indian cities: Delhi, Mumbai and Amritsar. It is built on contrast: crisp against soft, cold yoghurt against warm potato, sweet tamarind against sour and spicy green chutney. Most dishes are vegetarian by tradition and many can be made vegan on request.

The street food menu at Masala & More

Golgappe (69 kr) — crisp hollow puris you fill yourself with spiced potato, chickpeas and tangy mint-tamarind water. Eaten in one bite.

Dahi Puri (79 kr) — the same puris filled with potato, then topped with chilled yoghurt, tamarind and mint chutney, sev and pomegranate.

Dahi Bhalla (69 kr) — soft lentil dumplings soaked in sweetened yoghurt with chutneys and roasted cumin. Mango Dahi Bhalla (79 kr) adds fresh mango.

Delhi Special Aloo Chaat (69 kr) — crispy fried potatoes tossed in tamarind, chaat masala, fresh coriander and lime. Delhi's most loved snack.

Bombay Pav Bhaji (89 kr) — a buttery spiced vegetable mash served with toasted pav buns, the Mumbai beach classic.

Bombay Bhelpuri (79 kr) — puffed rice, sev, onion, tomato and chutneys, mixed to order so it stays crunchy.

Samosa (39 kr) and Smashed Samosa Burger (59 kr) — hand-folded potato-and-pea samosas, plain or smashed into a bun with chutneys.

Special Butter Bun Tikki (69 kr) — a spiced potato tikki in a butter-toasted bun, the Indian answer to a slider.

Stuffed Chole Kulcha (79 kr) — tandoor-baked stuffed bread served with spiced chickpeas, an Amritsar speciality.

Palak Patta Chaat (79 kr) — whole spinach leaves fried in a crisp chickpea batter, topped with yoghurt and chutneys.

Street Food Platter (129 kr) — a tasting plate of the kitchen's picks, the easiest way to try several at once.

Why it tastes like Delhi

Our Founder grew up with this food in Punjab and Delhi, and the recipes are the ones used at home: the tamarind chutney is cooked down with jaggery and dates, the green chutney is blended fresh each day, and the chaat masala is ground in our own kitchen with black salt and dried mango powder. That is the difference between chaat that tastes like a snack and chaat that tastes like a city.
