Yes. Masala & More is an Indian restaurant in Malmö that is open on Sundays from 12:00 to 20:30, at Baltzarsgatan 12 in the city centre, a few minutes' walk from Malmö Central Station. Sunday is the day many Malmö kitchens stay dark or run shortened hours, so this guide sets out exactly what we serve on a Sunday, when the last online orders go through, and how to book a table for a family lunch or an early dinner before the working week starts.
Sunday opening hours in Malmö, compared with the rest of the week
We open at 12:00 on Sundays and close at 20:30, and the à la carte menu is available all day, so the choice at 13:00 is the same as at 19:30. For comparison, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday run 11:30 to 21:30, Wednesday 11:30 to 20:30, Friday 11:30 to 22:30 and Saturday 12:00 to 22:30.
The weekday daily lunch menu does not run on Sundays. Instead, Sunday is when the thali combos and the sharing dishes come into their own: a table of four can order a couple of curries, a biryani and a stack of breads from the tandoor and eat the way a Punjabi family eats on a Sunday afternoon.
If you are planning around the evening, arrive by about 19:00 for an unhurried dinner. Arriving at 20:00 leaves very little time before the kitchen closes.
What to order on a Sunday at Masala & More
The bestseller is the bone-in Tandoori Chicken Biryani. The chicken is marinated and roasted in the clay tandoor, which runs at about 480°C, then layered with basmati rice so the smoke from the oven carries through the grains. Cooking it on the bone keeps the meat juicy and gives the rice far more flavour than boneless pieces would.
Butter Chicken (169 kr) is the mild choice for a mixed table, built on fresh tomatoes, butter and cream. Lamb Kadhai (199 kr) is for anyone who wants more heat and a thicker masala with onion and peppers. Dal Makhni, black lentils simmered overnight, is the dish regulars order every time, whatever else is on the table.
For a Sunday afternoon that starts with snacks, the Indian street food menu runs all day: Golgappe (69 kr), Dahi Puri (79 kr), Delhi Special Aloo Chaat (69 kr) and the Street Food Platter (129 kr), which is the sensible order for a table that wants to try several. Our street food guide explains every dish on it.
Every bread comes out of the tandoor to order. The naan dough ferments for 12 hours before it is stretched and slapped onto the clay wall, which is why it blisters and chars rather than simply browning. Garlic naan with Butter Chicken, tandoori roti with Lamb Kadhai and an extra plain naan for the dal is a Sunday order that rarely disappoints.
Sunday lunch for visitors from Copenhagen, Lund and the rest of Skåne
Sunday is the day Malmö fills with day-trippers, and Baltzarsgatan 12 is well placed for them. From Malmö Central Station it is a few minutes on foot. Lund is 20 minutes away by train and Copenhagen Airport about 35 minutes, so a family from Copenhagen can cross the bridge, walk through Gamla Väster, eat a long lunch and be home well before the evening.
Students in Lund use the same train in the other direction. A thali is a full meal of dal, curry, rice, bread and raita on one plate, which makes it the easiest order for a group that does not want to negotiate over dishes.
Because Sunday lunch is a popular slot, book ahead for parties of five or more, especially around holidays. Diwali 2026 falls on Sunday 8 November and we are open our normal 12:00 to 20:30 that day; our Diwali in Malmö guide covers how to plan it.
Vegetarian, vegan, halal and children on a Sunday
About half the menu is vegetarian: Dal Makhni, Palak Paneer, Butter Paneer, Kadhai Paneer, Chana Masala, Punjabi Dum Aloo and a Vegetable Biryani, plus the street food menu, which is vegetarian throughout. Many dishes can be made vegan on request; tell the team when you order and they will point you to the right ones. Gluten-free options are available, and the staff will confirm what is suitable.
All chicken, lamb and meat dishes are halal. There is a kids' menu, and mild dishes such as Butter Chicken, Butter Paneer and plain naan work well for children. If anyone at the table has an allergy, mention it to the staff before ordering.
Our curries are built from scratch every day on a slow-cooked base of onion, garlic, ginger and fresh tomatoes, with masalas ground in-house and no artificial colour. The recipes come from the Founder's upbringing in Punjab and Delhi, which is why the menu reads like a home kitchen rather than a standard curry-house list.
Sunday takeaway and delivery in Malmö
Online ordering runs on our own website, order.masalaandmore.se, and on Sundays it is open from 12:15 to 20:00, closing before the restaurant so every order is cooked properly. Pickup from Baltzarsgatan 12 has a minimum order of 145 kr and is usually ready in 15 to 45 minutes. Delivery within Malmö costs 89 kr with a minimum order of 249 kr, and is free on orders over 599 kr. A small service fee is added at checkout.
A Sunday evening order of Tandoori Chicken Biryani, Dal Makhni and garlic naan travels well, since the breads are baked when the order comes in and the biryani holds its heat.
